The latest Habitat for Humanity of Dane County home to be built in Sun Prairie continues to move toward completion despite the bitter cold and snow.
This latest project on Pine Street in Sun Prairie was started last spring and more than 240 volunteers have been on the site, including 34 volunteer groups. The projected is scheduled to be completed in early 2011 and the family is predicted to move in around March.
Perry Ecton, CEO of Habitat for Humanity said that nine homes have been completed in Sun Prairie since 2000.
"We have secured land to build three more homes with families in Sun Prairie," said Ecton. "Unfortunately, we won’t be able to begin construction on these homes until we receive funding to do so. We hope to receive support from the Sun Prairie community to help us begin construction on these three lots."
This week employees of Hallman Lindsay Paints were applying paint donated from the store to the inside of the Pine Street home. The home is less than two miles from the Hallman Lindsay factory, offices and local store on North Bristol Street in Sun Prairie.
"These are our neighbors," said Tim Mielcarek, owner of Hallman Lindsay Paints. "The support of our customers in Sun Prairie enables us to give back to our local community, and we are pleased to be able to take a place alongside the many other terrific volunteers who work together to build this home."
