Mayor to step down mid-term | News
Sun Prairie's mayor said he'll be stepping down at the end of the month.
Mayor John Murray told News 3 Wednesday afternoon that he is resigning from the position and his last day will be April 30. He said it's been a privilege to serve as mayor but he wants to spend more time with his family.
Murray was first elected as mayor in April 2011 and earned a second term last year, according to the city website.
Murray said since he has less than a year left before the next election, the city council will appoint someone to replace him until April 2015.
Before he was mayor, Murray served as an alder and president on the Sun Prairie Common Council.
