Sun Prairie to hold Halloween Spooktacular party

The Sun Prairie Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its Halloween Spooktacular on Thursday, Oct. 30 from 1-5 p.m.

Free event offers honeybee experiences for the human senses

A free library event this week will offer an experience of bees for multiple senses.

The Sun Prairie Public Library will host a Beekeeping 101 presentation Wednesday night by Jeanne Hansen of the Dane County Beekeeping Association.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room. Attendees will learn about the life of honeybees, their wax, honey and their contribution as pollinators. At the presentation, people will be able to taste honey and pollen, sniff beeswax candles, handle a real hive, smoker, and other beekeeping equipment.

Senior center to sell brats Friday

The will host a bratwurst sale Friday.

In addition to brats, there will be hot dogs, chips, soda and water for sale at the Colonial Club Senior Activity Center from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Drive-through service is available at the front doors, according to the Sun Prairie Star.

Bank to host lunchtime summer grill out

A Sun Prairie bank said it will host an open house on Aug. 22 from noon-2 p.m.

AnchorBank invited residents for a summer grill out to meet the branch's new staff.

"Everyone is welcome to stop by for lunch," Branch Manager Lisa Reinsad said in the news release. 

The open house takes place at the Sun Prairie AnchorBank branch, 1516 W. Main St.

Police to take part in OWI enforcement program

The Sun Prairie Police Department said it will join hundreds of other law enforcement agencies throughout the state in cracking down on drunken driving during the annual "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign from Friday to Sept. 1.

In a news release, the Sun Prairie Police Department said it will urge citizens to be cautious and careful while operating a vehicle during the focused enforcement program on drunken driving. Officers are asking citizens to make good judgment calls before getting into a car and use a designated driver or another way home if impaired.
