New business to offer free massages at ribbon-cutting

A Sun Prairie business will offer food and free massages at its official grand opening next week. 

Elements Massage's open house will take place from 3-7 p.m. Aug. 6 at the business, 2804 Prairie Lakes Drive, Suite 102. 

The company said it will offer free 15-minute chair massages and serve light hors d’oeuvres. Attendees can get tours of the facilities and information about massage and overall wellness. 

The Sun Prairie Chamber of commerce will also hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony. 

Elements Massage of Sun Prairie is located across from Costco. There are two other Elements Massage business in the Madison area including Fitchburg at 6317 McKee Road and in Middleton at 1950 Cayuga St., according to the company website. 

Council approves Aldi's plan, reduces traffic fee

Last week the Sun Prairie City Council  approved a plan for a new Aldi grocery store to be on Bunny Trail and reduced the traffic impact fee the company will be assessed, according to a Sun Prairie Star report. 

Aldi expects construction to begin the first week of August and the store to be completed in 2015.

New fitness apparel, training store to open in fall

A new fitness shoe and apparel store is scheduled to open in Sun Prairie this fall. 

Fleet Feet Sports Madison owners Matt & Jessica Anderson announced in June that they would open a second store in the Shoppes at Prairie Lakes shopping center at 2828 Prairie Lakes Drive. 

The Andersons said the new Fleet Feet should open in September. Fleet Feet offers sporting goods like apparel, athletic shoes and training. 

"With this expansion, Fleet Feet Sports will be accessible to even more people in the greater Madison area so we can share our passion for serving customers and encouraging the fitness lifestyle," the Andersons said in a news release. 

No refuse collection on July 4

Due to the Independence Day holiday, there will be no refuse and recycling pickup on Friday, July 4.

Goodwill to open store in Prairie Square shopping center

Goodwill Industries said it plans to open a store in the Prairie Square shopping center on McCoy Road in Sun Prairie later this year. 

Renovations on the existing building to house the new donation center and store will begin in May, Goodwill said on its website last week. 

Goodwill said it plans to hire 20 full- and part-time staff to work at the Sun Prairie location. 

The store is slated to open in early fall, according to the company. 

Sun Prairie residents with more than five items to donate can call for free home pick-up service beginning this month, according to the company. 

Stylist gets 'Manager of the Year' recognition

A Sun Prairie stylist has been recognized by her employer for exemplary work.

Nicole Zimmerman, manager of the Cost Cutters Hair Salon in Sun Prairie has been named one of three managers of the year among 50 salon managers in Southern Illinois and Northern Wisconsin, according to the Sun Prairie Star Wednesday.
